OpenWrt One router officially launched

The OpenWrt One — the first router designed from the ground up around the right to repair and software freedom — is now shipping.

The hardware is built around a MediaTek MT7981B SoC, with dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (3×3 + 2×2), Power over Ethernet, two Ethernet ports, and a mikroBUS expansion header. It is FCC-compliant and unbrickable: the bootloader and recovery flow are documented and accessible to owners.

Pricing is US$89. For every unit sold, regardless of retailer, US$10 is donated to the OpenWrt earmarked fund at the Software Freedom Conservancy. Buying one supports OpenWrt’s infrastructure and ongoing work on the software that underpins the project.

For full hardware specifications, recovery procedures, and ordering information, see the OpenWrt One product page on the wiki.
